Facebook

Facebook -

Facebook account seems to be easy to create. There are basic information and also the ability to tell almost everything about oneself. The basic usage is quite easy but might seem a bit confusing at first. The main idea of facebook is to get connected with people by searching their profiles and sending a request for being friends. There are also companies that use it effectively as one advertisement channel by sending invitations to different kinds of campaigns.

There are as many different ways of use the facebook as there are users. Some use it actively, some do just the opposite. Some people change their status every day and some are not even interested in other people statuses. Some people play the games that are offered and others use it to advertise something. There are sites where you can sell and buy things. You can put pictures, tell things about yourself just the way you feel comfortable. You can even chat with your friends that are online or send messages if they are offline. Even though there are mobile phones and other same kind of ways offered for communication, maybe the facebook the most famous one on the social media field.  At least the media seems to handle it the most.

We wanted to try one feature that facebook offers. We created a question that was send to about 100 people. The question itself was obvious “Is there life outside the social media?”. The meaning with this question was not to collect information and data about the users, the main point was to point out the basic consept of social media. All the people who answered said that there is life outside the social media and we truly hope that this maybe woke up some thoughts and people stopped for a minute to think that what actually is social media and how big role this has in their life.

The question itself was really easy to create and it was fun to see how many would use a moment to answer. This feature would be maybe a tool for marketing meanings and also just for fun inquiries.

There are lots of pros and cons about facebook that are listed below:
-          basic usage is easy but the security and privacy settings were confusing.
-          one can determine the things that want´s to tell and show and also the audience for those.
-          nowadays many people use facebook and it is quite easy to find people there.

With facebook thebiggest problem maybe occures when thinking of how much to show and to whom. How to be sure that the things that you want to share with just specific group are shown to them. There have been changes in the settings and this has caused problems. Overall, facebook is a good site to get connected but it is up to the user how many of these features want to be used.

Almost everyone has account in there. Not very good, plenty of useless information but great digital friendbook. And opportunity to follow someones life without being seen. Chat for instant messaging.

  1. Also about facebook the problem with pictures is self evident. Too open accounts and too much information about children might be a big issue later!

  2. Facebook is good way to distribute information. You can tell people what is on your mind and tell what is happening in your life. But is this necessary? Many may think it is. But will it give you something important? I dont think so. Life has not changed so dramatically that social media is mandatory for good life.

But it will free your ways to communicate. You are not dependant on others time schedules. You can share your information at any time you want. Or when you have time. Time is money.

  3. By the way, so far, until today there has been 22 votes on the quetionaire we did. There are 133 friends in the profile where we did create this and the answer percent is quite low. All the other people say that there is life outside the social media, but thought that there is not. Maybe this one person was kidding, hopefully!

  4. In the end, facebook is a good way to find contacts and friends, but it is definite that one can live without it!

  5. I've also been pondering quite much the issue of publishing photos of children in fb (and other social media s well). Even if you have a limited account... How can you know e.g. your ex-classmate form secondary school so well that you can let her/him see pics of your half-naked kids? I mean you propably know your REAL good friends well enough to trust them, but if you have like 150 "friends" in fb...

Personally I've published like 2 pics of my kids in fb, and in those pics they are quite grown-ups already. If I like to share pics of my most loved ones to my real friends and the relatives I have better ways than social media for that.

According to Finland's law parents have right to make decisions on behalf of their minors. Sometimes it's a blessing, sometimes not.
